Etonmars, also known as Elena Tang, is an artist whose work explores the intersection of identity, vulnerability, and societal contexts. Her creative practice spans multiple mediums, including photography,  film, and multimedia art, unravelling narratives that resonate deeply with self-introspection and discovery.

Tang’s work reflects her own sense of alienation—feeling like her true home was Mars, rather than the culture she grew up in. This sense of disconnection fuels her artistic exploration of identity, trauma, and the human experience.

Etonmar’s journey began with a passion for film photography, influenced by her father’s camera obsession and her love of nature. Her work soon expanded into filmmaking, where she collaborated on documentaries, TV productions, adverts and independent films. Throughout her career, Etonmars has pursued a path of constant exploration and boundary-pushing—both in her artistic practice and in her dual roles as a professional filmmaker and visual artist.

Her philosophy centers on questioning definitions—whether they relate to identity, art, or cultural expectations. Each new project is an opportunity to explore a different facet of her creative voice, often blending mediums to create a multi-layered experience for the audience.

Her work is often described as deceptively simple. Embracing complex layers under minimalism, Tang allows her subjects to speak for themselves, revealing the undercurrents of their emotional and physical states.
